Super Bowl LVI will be approaching in just a month with two teams full of playmakers and names who will be remembered for decades. Both teams will be brainstorming designs and strategy ahead of the biggest day of the year. According to Bleacherreport, some of the most important play by plays in Super Bowl history appear below.


Super Bowl III: Joe Namath’s Bold Guarantee

When Namath played professional football for the New York Jets, and the Jets played against the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, Namath made this statement, "I guarantee we will beat the Colts." The Jets did win that Super Bowl III and pulled one of the greatest upsets in modern football.


Super Bowl XXIII: San Francisco 49er’s 92- Yard Game- Winning Drive

There have been numerous game-winning drives in Super Bowl history, but the 92-yard drive led by Joe Montana and punctuated with a pass to John Taylor surpasses most. This broke many records at the time.


Super Bowl XXXVI: Adam Vinatieri Jump Starts The Patriot Dynasty

Tied 17-17 with the Los Angeles Rams, the New England Patriots got the ball back with less than 90 seconds left in the game. Quarterback Tom Brady drove the team into field goal range and Vinatieri booted the game-winner as time expired.

Super Bowl XLIII: Santonio Holmes Takes a Win With The Perfect Catch

In 2009, a final drive by the Pittsburgh Steelers included Holmes’ touchdown reception in which he went airborne in the corner of the end zone and

managed to keep his feet in bounds after he landed.


Super Bowl LI: The First Overtime

In 2017 the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history tied the game at 28-28 sending it into overtime. The New England Patriots won the coin toss against the Atlanta Falcons and took less than four minutes to drive down the field for the winning score.
