What's New at the Fair?

The North Carolina State Fair remains the largest event in North Carolina and the largest agricultural event in the nation. The State Fair hosts lots of attractions, including rides, music, crafts, and competitions that take place over the span of eleven days.

This year, the State Fair will have over 100 rides and plenty of games to play for all ages. Neon green tents covered in stars offer tickets and wristbands for the fair. Wristbands can be purchased online as well at the state fair website, and picked up at arrival. Tickets and wristbands go quickly on October 14th, so order them as soon as possible. A sheet of 18 tickets costs $10, and a wristband only costs $30. While the wristband may seem expensive, it may be worth it to those who love the rides. Each ride requires six to seven tickets, so the band allows visitors to ride an unlimited amount for the whole day.

For those who do not love the rides and games so much, don’t worry; there will still be plenty to do, such as live music, livestock competitions, flower and garden shows, and demolition derby. Historical attractions such as the Old Great Mill and Bowels house will showcase antique tobacco farming equipment and more.

With the addition of new rides, games, and competitions, a few rules will also make an appearance. This year, the state fair only permits clear bags, small clutches, or a diaper bag to enter the fair. Backpacks, camera cases, and purses will not be allowed. If an attendee does not have a clear bag, they will be given a plastic gallon bag and asked to take their bag back to their car. For more information on this new policy, visit NC State Fair Clear Bag Policy.

The NC State Fair will be lots of fun, so don’t miss out on all it has to offer. The event opens from 8-12 Fridays and Saturdays, and from 8-11 the rest of the week; which should give its excited visitors plenty of time to check out everything.
