How Does AFHS Celebrate the Holidays?

Whether it be decking the halls or lighting a menorah, the holidays provide the perfect time to celebrate old traditions and create new memories. The students at Apex Friendship have added their unique twist to common traditions to make the holiday season truly special.

Allie Markle (11)

"We have a dancing Santa and on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, we dance with it before we are allowed to open any presents. We also open two presents in the morning, then have a breakfast and coffee break, and then open some more, take another break, etc. Basically [we make] the present opening last throughout the entire day instead of just in the morning."

Elbetel Gulilat (11)

“In Ethiopian tradition, we strew grass on the floor and do our traditional coffee ceremony on it. Surprisingly enough, gifts aren’t the focus of [our] Christmas, it’s more of quality family time and feasting.”

Faith Daack (11)

"Every Christmas, my mom makes special cookies that we eat while we unwrap our presents."
