Extravagant Celebrity Weddings

Weddings: the time to celebrate love, unity, and two souls joining into one. The often-lavish ceremonies of expensive celebrity weddings can cost upwards of millions of dollars. Everything from the dress, venue, hair, makeup, and sometimes the beautiful locations run up a bill so large they’d make any financially responsible wedding planner dizzy. According to WeddingideasMag, the following events show some of the most expensive celebrity wedding choices.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles (1981)

To this day the most expensive wedding has been a royal wedding. The Duke and Duchess of Wales spent a whopping one-hundred and ten million dollars on their special day. The money went towards security, food, and transportation, but a good amount of it also went to her dress, adorned with a 25-foot train and covered in 10,000 pearls, and the 225-pound, 5-foot-tall cake.

The media personality and her basketball player of a boyfriend spent just 2 million on the flowers at their wedding. The couple invited around 500 guests to witness the joining of the two. Kardashian’s diamond-studded headpiece cost $2.5 million. The invitations cost the couple $10,000, with the cake being a whopping $6,000.

Michael Jordan and Yvette Prieto (2013)

The basketball player and his girlfriend at the time invited around 300 guests to their Palm Beach bash. The Jordan’s spent around 10 million dollars on their special day. The expenses went towards the performances such as Robin Thicke and Usher and their seven layered crystal encrusted cake. Prieto’s designer J’Aton Couture wedding dress had Swarovski crystals draped over handmade silk lace created just for Mrs. Jordan herself.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (2018)

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex racked up the expenses from security. They spent around 45 million on their special day. The couple invited 600 guests and 1.9 billion people tuned into the wedding on TV. The less expensive costs included lunch and dinner receptions totaling around $686,000, and the royal couple’s lemon elderflower cake priced at $71,600.
