Halloween represents a holiday for all ages. Nothing screams Halloween like seeing the jack-o-lanterns at peoples houses, the costumes and candy. It simply wouldn’t be the scariest holiday without movies. According to Good Housekeeping the following films should be watched on the scariest night of the year.
Start off with the classic 1996 Scream, a dark comedy with loads of humor. A crazed knife maniac runs around stalking high school students without them knowing, using horror movies as clues for a game while taking each person out one by one. This thriller will either keep viewers on their toes or have them laughing hysterically.
The movie The Nightmare Before Christmas provides a great example of a horror movie that can be watched at both Halloween and Christmas. The stop motion created by the famous Tim Burton remains unique in the Halloween genre. The main character Jack Skellington, the king of Halloweentown, feels bored with the same tradition of scaring people in the “real world”. He stumbles upon Christmastown and feels amazed by the warm and colorful feeling of the town. Jack goes through an adventure of trying to get Christmastown under his control. This movie proves to be a great option for people who don’t like horror movies but like to enjoy some of the Halloween scare.
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, a timeless 1966 film, stays close to the hearts of many who grew up watching the special each Halloween. Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang celebrate Halloween while Linus waits for the pumpkin patch to open to see the Great Pumpkin. Without this classic there would be no feeling of the Halloween spirit.
The season gets closer with leaves changing colors and orange and purple lights glowing. The smell of pumpkin and the hot apple cider aroma drifts through the air. These Halloween movies will always keep you and your family in the Halloween spirit.
