Every year, Disney has its Investors Day announcement, where they reveal the different movies and series for release in the next year or few years. One of the biggest franchises getting a number of releases would be Star Wars. According to Disney, the list of Star Wars-related media expected to be released includes:
A new season of The Mandalorian
Rangers of the New Republic
Ahsoka
Andor
Obi-wan Kenobi
The Bad Batch
Visions
Lando
The Acolyte
A Droid Story
Willow
Rogue Squadron
The new season of The Mandalorian will be coming out on Christmas of 2021, picking up where the last season left off. According to Starwars.com, fans should expect the film Rogue Squadron to follow the story of a new generation of star pilots pushing boundaries all while earning their wings. The film should hit theatres Christmas 2023.
The much anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series, announced in August of 2019,
left fans in the dark until now. The series will take place 10 years after the events of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. Disney confirmed that Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will be returning to their iconic roles for the six-episode series. The return of Christensen as Vader teases the idea of a second fight between the old master and apprentice.
Andor, set to release in 2022, tells the story of rebel spy Cassian Andor, bringing back Diego Luna to reprise the role. Fans remain unsure whether or not it will take place before or after the events of Rogue One; however, it’ll be a spy thriller that Star Wars fans won’t want to miss. A Droid Story introduces the audience to a new droid hero to be guided by RD-D2 and C-3PO. Fans continue to anticipate a potential show or a movie.
A new animated show called The Bad Batch will arrive exclusively on Disney Plus with a currently unknown release date. The story follows a unique squad of clones that fans may remember from The Clone Wars series, an experimental group belonging to The Bad Batch. Each one appears different from their brothers in the clone army, each possessing a specialized skill making them very efficient and terrifying fighters. With the ending of The Clone Wars, they take up mercenary work to keep afloat.
Another much-anticipated series, Visions, has already picked up a lot of attention from the Star Wars community for one main reason: each episode will be animated by a different Japanese anime studio, a Star Wars anime. Each episode will go into a different piece of Star Wars history, going through 2,000 years of lore.
With all of the new releases, any fan can find a show or movie that fits their taste just right. Although the dates on some of these series may seem far off, more and more trailers and information will slowly be released to the public.
