Ever since January 2021, the media has been focused on mass shootings across the country. Some blame the pandemic, others question how easily someone can access guns, but, regardless, dozens of people have died.

There have been over 45 mass shootings in a month, which worries people all over the country. One of the most televised shootings occurred in Indianapolis involving Brandon Scott Hole on April 15. The shooting occurred at a FedEx facility where former employee, Hole, had worked. Eight people lost their lives and four had been admitted into the hospital. According to CNN, Hole killed himself before the police could make it inside the FedEx building. Police still have not found out what his motive had been, but the shootings caused many to grieve and suffer for those eight people they had lost.

Another shooting that caused outrage across the country happened at three spas around or in Atlanta, Georgia. According to New York Times, it caused many Asian-Americans to speak up and demand justice for the six Asian women who have been victims of a “rampage” instigated by the suspect, Robert Aaron Long. Although the true motives for Long’s actions do not appear known, many celebrities like Lana Condor and Sandra Oh have spoken up about their heritage and the unacceptable hate revolving around their race. The mayor of Atlanta announced to the public that, “Whatever the motivation was for this guy, we know that the majority of the victims were Asian. We also know that this is an issue that is happening across the country. It is unacceptable, it’s hateful, and it has to stop.”

A shooting in Rock Hill, South Carolina, shocked the fans of the NFL community when they learned that former player Phillip Adams shot and killed a doctor, the doctor's wife, his grandchildren, and two pedestrians caught in the crossfire. According to ESPN, evidence at the scene led the police to Adams' home, where they found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The police have not come to the conclusion of the motive, leaving the Lesslie family without closure. The community mourned Doctor Lesslie and his family, who spent countless hours of their time at Camp Joy, a camp that focused on working with kids who had disabilities. The shooting only added to the long list of mass shootings committed in the United States.
