As October 31st approaches, stores stock up with candies and lots of Halloween-themed foods. This year, the typical exchange of delicious Halloween candies and treats will not be the same due to COVID-19. However, not all is lost; plenty of Halloween treats can still be made right at home.
Halloween Chocolate Bark (Boo Bark) ~ Homemade chocolate bark made with semi sweet chocolate bars, swirled with white chocolate, and topped with classic Halloween candies.
Prep time: 15 minutes; Total time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
Two 8 oz. semi-sweet baker’s chocolate bars, coarsely chopped
Two 4 oz. white baker’s chocolate bars, coarsely chopped
Festive Halloween candies such as eyeball sprinkles, candy corn, or Halloween colored sprinkles/M&M’s
Instructions:
Line a medium sized baking sheet (smaller or larger depending on how thick you want the chocolate to be) with tin foil or parchment paper. Set aside.
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate. You can melt it in a double boiler or the microwave. If using the microwave: place the chopped chocolate in a medium heat-proof bowl. Melt in 20 second increments in the microwave, stopping and stirring after each increment until completely melted and smooth.
Melt the white chocolate following the same melting process in step 2.
Pour the melted semi-sweet chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread out using a spatula or large spoon into a large rectangle (anywhere around 8×12 inches). Drizzle the white chocolate mixture on top, using a knife or a toothpick to swirl the layers together. Decorate the top of the bark with candies.
Allow the chocolate to completely set uncovered at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes. Once hardened, break into large or small pieces.
Enjoy this Halloween treat!
